Willow the Dragon

Chainsaw carved from a live willow tree. This Dragon sculpture originally started after I had to remove a large damaged bow from this tree in my front garden in mid 2019. The remaining stump developed a large split right in the middle of the dragons head while I was trying to carve it, so I decided to leave it for a while to see what happened. When the covid lockdown happened at the end of March 2020, and my chainsaw skills had improved significantly, I decided to revisit it and see if I could salvage my first attempt….this is the result. The rare Norfolk Willow Dragon emerging from its nesting place deep in the heart of an old willow tree!
